ESIGELEC organised an American seminar for the third consecutive year on the nuclear fuel cycle in France. A dozen American students came to ESIGELEC on May 27 for a 10-day trip which included visits to companies, lessons at the school and cultural outings.
These students, from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, visited five leading companies from the nuclear industry: the nuclear power plant in Flamanville, the National Agency for radioactive waste management in Soulaine Dhuys, the Office of Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies in Saclay, and the Nuclear Energy Agency in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
In addition, they followed courses within ESIGELEC on different topics in relation to the theme : the nuclear fuel cycle and the third generation reactor / EPR.
On a cultural level, the young Americans were able to discover the historic treasures of the Region and of France. Among others, they visited Paris, Rouen and the American cemetery in Colleville and the Pointe du Hoc.
This programme was part of the partnership with ESIGELEC, which, each year, allows students from the School to do a dual diploma course at the University of Pittsburgh.
